The Youth Hostel is approximately 650 metres above sea level, surrounded by woodland near Greifenbachstauweiher reservoir.
As a certified "Family|Sport|Youth Hostel" we offer excellent facilities. For example, the Youth Hostel has Saxony's largest range of ball sports, its own stone workshop with a mineral exhibition and an outdoor area in the woods covering approx. two hectares, with a stream and sports equipment for all sorts of action. The Youth Hostel has 205 beds, spread across two to six-bed rooms; all of these have washing facilities. Rooms for group leaders are equipped with an en-suite shower/WC. 17 beds are in wheelchair-accessible rooms. Showers and WCs for group rooms are located close by on each floor. The Youth Hostel also has a dining room, three club rooms, a playroom, a "creative room", an open terrace and 3 barbecue areas as well as 2 campfire areas.

Sports and activities all around the Youth Hostel: Football ground, volleyball and basketball courts, table tennis room with 5 tables, billiards room, table football, playground; water fun at the Greifensteine recreational pool; bathing in Greifenbachstauweiher reservoir plus sailing; Greifensteine rock formation with rock climbing and open-air stage; forest adventure climbing; various sports grounds (large pitch, grass); raft building and canoe training; GPS treasure hunts; cross-country skiing for beginners.

The region around the Youth Hostel is a real eldorado for fans of cycling and hiking. Long ago the area achieved fame thanks to extraordinary silver and tin finds. Many reminders of this mining past lend the area a distinctive flair. The following tours are just some of those on offer:
